Egon, a dance film about the life and work of the Austrian painter Egon Schiele, premiered at Cinedans Festival in March 2013 to much critical acclaim. Further screenings include the International Schiele Symposium in Austria, the Szépmúvészeti Múzeum, Budapest, film festivals in Bucharest and Rotterdam, and the Dutch National Television (NTR). Benedikt was chosen to portray the painter’s wife Edith Schiele.

I'm the only one

Premiere: Amsterdam, March 15th 2014

 

I'm the only one was financed by the Dutch Government (Fonds Podium Kunsten and Media Fund) during the 4th edition of the Point Taken Series and premiered at Cinedans, the world’s largest dance festival in March 2014. Van Schayk, who won the Benois de la danse for lifetime achievement in 2011, based the film on one of his paintings, which depict a group of people, that symbolize humanity, in light of a major storm. Benedikt was the first dancer to be cast in films that premiered in Cinedans twice.
