Performative Lecture *

*A performative lecture is a lecture based on an academic paper set within a fictional plot.​

​

The performative lecture is set in the year 2050.  ​Young Scientists who were born in 2025 are invited to nominate the speaker for the 1,5 °C Memorial Lecture. (see invitation letter below)​​​​​​

The performative lecture addresses the questions posed by the Young Scientists and illustrates how narrative art could help shift culture away from planetary overshoot. 

 

The Road Not Taken (so far) premiered at the El Aleph Science and Art Festival, hosted by Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City in May 2025. The most recent performance took place at the First Overshoot conference hosted by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg in October 2025.
